The Via Lucis (the Way of Light) is a devotion similar to the Via Crucis (the Way of the Cross). This lesser-known devotion, also known as the Stations of the Resurrection, is approved by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
In alignment with the devotional life of the Church, the Via Lucis celebrates the fifty days of Easter and key events of Christ’s life. In this positive vision, we journey from an experience of suffering to the hope of arriving at man’s true end: liberation, joy, and peace, all of which are essential paschal values.
The Way of Light prayer books can be practiced at your parish, at one’s home, or at the Way of Light section at the Gardens of Gethsemani cemetery. It’s designed to draw people into the light, love and deeper meaning of the Resurrection and help the living understand the life to come.
